Peg Hanafin

1st March 1937 – 27th July 2020

Peg Hanafin spent her lifetime as an activist and volunteer in her community. She was the recipient of a 45 year service medal from the St. Vincent de Paul in 2014. She was awarded an Honours Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counselling / Psychology, skills which she used as a volunteer in her work. She as a successful business woman and was the co-ordinator of Coláiste Éile, a second chance education centre. Her success with those who suffer disadvantage is renowned. There is an annual Bursary in her name give to a student in the centre she managed by the Tipperary Education Training Board, as well as a Perpetual Cup purchased by the students in her name. 

The input that she had into a diversity of lives that were broken and needy inspired her to recount the lessons learned from such experiences. Her books have left a lasting impression on many of those who have read them and each one is a continuation of her life, her vision and the issues that surround living a fruitful and happy life. She herself lived her life to the full and despite poor health and advancing years continued to support, comfort and sustain others to the very end.
